Cloth Wrap Baby Carriers: How do I tie this thing?

Dear readers,

Carrying your baby in a cloth wrap has so many benefits, it’s definitely worth learning how to use one. While the steps may seem a little complicated at first it’s very easy once you’ve got it down.

I prefer wraps over typical buckle carriers because they seem to be more comfortable for newborns, and they allow you to provide ongoing hands free cuddles while doing other tasks! You can also pump or breastfeed while wearing your wrap so you don’t have to take it on and off.

Now, onto the question of how to tie one. There are ways to tie toddlers onto your back, but today we are going to learn how to attach a baby at your front.

  1. Find the middle of the wrap and lay it across your belly.
  2. Bring both sides around you, and cross them over each other.
  3. Bring them up and over your shoulders.
  4. Cross them in front of you.
  5. Tuck the lengths under the strip of cloth that is across your belly.
  6. Wrap remaining portions around to your back and tie into a simple knot.
    • (You can wrap them back around to the front again before tying if the lengths are too long).
  7. Spread out the fabric on your shoulders to cover more area.
  8. Now, time to put baby in. 💕 Pick up your baby and lay them against your chest at the base of your throat.
  9. You’ll start by putting one of baby’s legs into the crossed section that goes underneath the other.
  10. Spread out the fabric to cover baby’s butt and thigh to the knee.
  11. Then do the next side, tucking their leg under the crossed section of fabric and spreading it across their back, covering butt to knee.
  12. Now simply pull up the strip of fabric from across your belly to cover their back. This ensures they are fully secure in the wrap.
    • (You can cover their feet too if that feels more comfortable).

That’s all there is to it! I hope you enjoy wearing your baby. ♥️
